The Russell Haigh Bursary started on the 2nd February at the Surrey Cricket Centre. Here are the u9 and u11s with their coaches.
January
In 1999 Eliot Awin won the u13 batting cup and the following year he won the fielding cup. He has moved on to greater things. He has become the first person to complete the World’s Toughest Row with a pacemaker. Elliot is now 37 and like his father is a wine importer. In December he crossed the Atlantic in 44 days rowing the 3000 miles from San Sebastian de la Gomera in Spain to Nelson’s Dockyard in Antigua. His boat is named Pacemaker.
The AGM was held on the 19th January. A new structured committee was elected and the accounts approved. Some presentations were made.
Brian Chamberlain Bowling Award – Ben Crook

The year started badly. A pipe burst in the roof and flooded the bar area and clubroom. The day before the AGM. Fortunately the probationary service team were on site and they together with other volunteers managed to get the water cleared up.
